Other common names:    Great Barracuda, Giant Sea Pike, Cuda.

Maximum weight: 45kg (100lbs)

Current I.G.F.A all time record: 38.55kg (85lb) - Christmas Is, Kiribati - 11 April, 1992

Identifying features: Upper body is silver blue to grey while lower body is silver. Flanks and back are covered in dark blotches.

Expected temperature range: 70° F to 86° F (21° C to 30° C)

Migration and breeding: This species will only be found in schools when in it's juvenile stage (90cm / 3'). Larger specimens will almost certainly be loners and only gather to breed.

Typical location: Juveniles will be found in lagoons, sand flats and shallow reefs. Adult speciemens are generally found in deeper water around reefs and peaks.

Fighting characteristics: Fast surface runs and jumps make this species a exciting fish to catch.
