Maximum weight: 135kg (300lbs) for M. Atlanticus / 14kg (30lbs) for M. Cyprinoides

Current I.G.F.A all time record: 128.50kg (283lb) - Sherbro Is, Sierra Leone - 16 April,1991

Identifying features: Upper body is green/blue silver that then fades to a brilliant silver on the sides. The lower body silver white. These color may change to a gold if fish has spent some time in brackish waters.

Expected temperature range: 66° F to 86° F (19° C to 30° C)

Migration and breeding: A very slow grower that matures between 7 to 13 years of age and as a result the angler should act responsibly and not kill every fish they land! Female lay more than 12 million eggs but mortality is extremely high. MORE COMING SOON!!!

Typical location: An inshore species that haunts lagoons, estuaries and shallow coral reefs

Fighting characteristics: A strong fish that deserves respect, as it will fight for hours. A fantastic jumper that leaps high in the air. Determined fighter even in shallow waters. Can mix deep runs with surface sprints.
