BTS offers many different styles of wind-ons and are all made with BTS PRO GRIP which is a unique material offering unmatched holding power of the mono. We also use a method of securing the mono which has never been available before to so many.
We have designed the selection of the leaders to be based on the IGFA line class you will be using. Some manufactures overlook this point and make them based on the leaders breaking strain. This can result in lost fish. Why???...

An example is as follows:
An angler purchases a 300lb wind-on leader from the local tackle store for his 37kg (80lb) outfit.. He knows he'll be using 8" lures as that is the size of the baitfish the Marlin have been feeding on over the past few weeks. He did not wish to purchase a heavier leader (e.g.. 500lbs) as this may impede the action of the lure and prevent it from performing to it's optimum level. He begins trolling the lure in an area known for big fish. The strike drag on the reel is set to 10kg, while the second setting is set to 15kg. He hooks a whooper and begin to settle into the fight. 30 minutes later the fish is close to the boat and near exhausted. The angler moves the drag from the strike position up to the second setting and begin to move the fish within TAG range. The wind-on is still about 20 feet way from the rod tip......CRACK! The wind-on leader breaks and the fish is free to be tagged another day! The reason this happened is that the wind-on was the weak link. The 37kg (80lb) line was never going to break at that drag setting and the leader sure wasn't - but the material used to make the wind-on (usually dacron) was not designed to handle that sort of pressure even though the mono used was 300lbs. This is an inherent problem with most wind-on leaders. A wind-on leader may be made with 600lb mono and ideal for big lures on big fish....but will the loop be up to the task?
